Margaux Sets Us Up Nicely For This SZN with Her EP 'Pink Holiday'

Here at BabyPink, we’ve talked to so many women but Margaux stands out. I’ve said it before, & I will say it again, she is the definition of a HUSTLER. You’ll understand why after reading our first interview with her from a few months back. She does it all: writes, produces, mixes, creative directs, & so much more. Make sure you stream & download her EP for some good vibes & follow her to stay up to date with her work!

A) We've been following your work, but for those who are new what have you been up to since we last spoke for your release of 'Dont Front'?

Since "Don't Front" I've been working on a lot of music for 2019! I plan on releasing a couple singles and hopefully some visuals finally! I've also been doing a lot of shows. I got to perform at A3C this year so that was really cool! But more so, I've just been on this journey with myself. I've been trying to push myself out of any box I feel I'm in. So, I've been trying new hair colors, new sounds, new friends, new experiences, new everything! I've just been trying to have more fun!

I feel like as an artist sometimes we can get so caught up in a "brand" or a "look" or even a sound or genre, but all that just gives me less inspiration and ultimately things to create. I'm not one sound, one look, one word, or one color. I'm an artist; and any type of art that I create, I create it as a way to breathe, and there's only so much air in a box. So if I put myself in one I might as well just throw dirt on top of it and bury myself too. So I've really just been on some do wtf I want, when tf I want!

B) 'Pink Holiday' ... how would you describe the overall theme & sound. Why did you choose this Title for the EP?

The theme and sound is very fun and colorful! I originally wanted to put out a winter EP; and I wanted it to be dark and calm. But one day I randomly was listening to "Honey" by Mariah Carey and decided to sample it (which I never do), and it just sort of flowed into this bright/colorful song. I didn't plan on releasing it until the summer of 2019, but then my friend heard it and was like, "this reminds of of Christmas" and she was right lol, it did sound like Christmas. From there, it really just got me into this creative groove, and I just kept making songs. I started sampling things that really reminded me of Christmas like: Anna Nicole's Christmas special, Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby," and even the Mean Girl's Winter Talent show scene. And at the end it all just sort of came together!

As far as the name, the sounds and notes I was using were just giving me "pink" vibes; and even though the songs were "Christmas inspired," they're not technically "Christmas songs". So, I just decided name it "Pink Holiday" !

C) What's your favourite song on Pink Holiday & why?

My favorite song is either "Anna" or "U Kno". They're both just really fun, cute, and promiscuous songs, so it's pretty hard for me to choose one: but my favorite production is definitely "Anna" though! I feel like that's def one of the top beats I've ever made in my opinion!
